One thing I think leftists fundamentally have to believe in is, well, themselves. Now why do I say that?
All of the discussion around certain online leftists making things about themselves in regards to the tweet about the need to workout and stay fit has got me thinking. One of the main issues I see in these spaces is sort of a lack of confidence in promoting socialist ideals beyond the walls of comfort.
Now I don’t mean engaging in arguments with your republican relatives, I mean enacting and executing concentrated efforts, collective efforts, in pushing these ideas to the masses. Because right now, besides the tendency to present far left ideas in overtly intellectual and academic ways, too many young modern leftists have contrived a misplaced sense of determination in trying to fit individualistic virtues into such a communal and collectivist premise. What about people who have this specific concern? What about this person over here that has this specific need? what about that person over there that requires that specific care? It’s pointless dialogue and drivel that slows us down.
Believing in and adhering to the ideas of socialism within a capitalist world demands the relinquishment of capitalist principles. Individualism, on all levels, is one of those. This doesn’t mean letting go of any and all self identity or personality and just becoming a mindless cog in an ideological hive-mind. All it means is two things, one: separating thy mind and thy self from the foundational poisons of our present world, and two: finding complete and utter confidence within your beliefs. Because with those two things, creating widespread and effective propaganda campaigns across the united states, which is an important stepping stone towards socialism, wont feel like a distant reverie, it’ll be real, and we will be a hell of a lot closer towards achieving the unthinkable.
